The movie takes place in a small village a few months before WWII
begins. Through the trials of a young couple, we are introduced to the countless calamities war brings.
In our small village arrives Mirto Theodorou, the new teacher, to replace the old teacher, who held that position for about 40 years. Full of love for her job, and for the children of the village, she attempts to work with a new educational doctrine. One that does not use corporal punishment and yelling in order to discipline children. The parents do not take to heart the new methods, and their dissaproval grows more when they discover that she dates Stefanos, the son of the village president. The day of their wedding, Greece enters the war and Stefanos is called to serve...
