In Haunted by My Past the author examines the environment that shaped his life, first as an orphan then as a young man in Athens after his release from the orphanage, followed by his immigration to Brazil where he became a successful businessman, only to be followed by his downfall that took him back to Greece and on to the United States where he spent the last 30 years of his life. He recollects what drew him back to the villages of Greece, newar where he was born, to interview surviving friends and acquaintences of his father to determine the true reasons his father's death in the mountains of Epirus in the 1930's, when Coralis was just a toddler. Then he recalls his own actions as a grown man, which haunt him in all of his life.
