Καλοκαίρι 1972. Η Αμμόχωστος αποτελεί το πιο ελκυστικό θέρετρο της Μεσογείου. Μια πόλη λουσμένη στη λάμψη και το φως. Ένα φιλόδοξο ζευγάρι εγκαινιάζει το πιο εντυπωσιακό ξενοδοχείο, όπου Ελληνοκύπριοι και Τουρκοκύπριοι συνεργάζονται αρμονικά. Δυο οικογένειες που ζουν στην ίδια γειτονιά, οι Γεωργίου και οι Οζκάν, συγκαταλέγονται ανάμεσα σε πολλούς άλλους που μετακόμισαν στην Αμμόχωστο για να ξεφύγουν από τον επί χρόνια αναβρασμό και τη βία που επικρατούσε σε άλλα μέρη του νησιού.
