Bread dimensions approx. 12 inches diameter and 2 lbs in weight

In Greek tradition, the cutting of the Vasilopita (St. Basil's bread) is part of any New Year's celebration. According to the custom, a gold coin ("flouri") is inserted in the bread during its preparation. Whoever gets the piece with the gold coin is supposed to have a lucky New Year and the flouri becomes a good luck charm as well as memorabillia for that particular year.

*Lucky coin (dime) is just ceremonial. Commemorative and collectible coins are available for purchase separately
